Property Solutions 101 Year in Review (2018)

2018 has once again been a big year for the Property Solutions 101 team. We’ve had a lot of ‘business’ wins to share in terms of the Buyer’s Agency and Property Management, but for us, we are most proud of our commitment to the community.

And the reason we are able to give back to our community is because of the amazing ongoing support from our clients. Without our clients we would be unable to be such an active member of the community. Which is why every time our clients refer someone to us, we are absolutely delighted.

In the same vein, each time we reach out to local organisations and say, “how about this?”, the businesses are keen to get involved in any way they can.

Like us, they realise that to see the Hunter thrive, businesses need to support charities, not-for-profit organisations and people who are looking for a hand up.

To this end, the PS101 ‘All-In’ Challenge for 2018 was a huge success supporting local charity Got Your Back Sista. With 17 other local businesses we were able to raise $9,000 and donate $1,500 worth of furniture. We’d like to thank The Marketing GP, Frontline, Bell Partners Wealth Creation, Evolution Advisers, Hyperweb, Hunter Plastic Surgery, St George, Backyard Grannys, performHR, Monica Clare Recruitment, Jenkins Legal, LJ Hooker, Capital Claims, Smartline, and Wolfenden Plumbing for stepping up to the challenge and supporting such a fantastic charity!

A new initiative this year was the Sport Sponsorship Seminar. Through Kylie’s involvement in sport and her role as a Board member of Hunter Academy of Sport she realised that we need to start educating our athletes at a younger age, as to how they can support themselves as a professional athlete – particularly females. All evidence demonstrates that female athletes generally earn far less than their male counterparts, even when they reach the same levels of success. This means that our female athletes need to know how to find and keep sponsorship. And the younger they start, the better!

With Jenkins Legal Services, Crosbie Finance and The Marketing GP we put on a Sponsorship Education Seminar, with a panel of female athletes, comprising of Sam Poolman (professional netballer), Katie Ebzery (professional basketballer) and Amy Harrison (professional soccer player). The three athletes shared their experiences – what they have learnt and what they are still learning!  Which is why we are so happy to support a junior athlete ourselves, and have recently signed up to support Maddi, who is an up-and-coming Netball star – let’s wait and see what we can report on in 2019!

We were also thrilled to be a sponsor of the Sam Poolman Netball Clinics that took place throughout 2018. These clinics have been designed to help young aspiring netballers connect with their idols and teach them invaluable skills for their futures. We are proud to work with Sam and are thrilled to announce we will once again be supporting the Sam Poolman Netball Clinics in 2019.

We’re not just about netball though and were keen participants in Charlie’s Run 4 Kids along with sponsoring the Evolution Charity Cup and backing surfer Alessa Quizon in the 2018 Surfest Grandstand Physio Women’s Pro. It’s another couple of great examples of local businesses in the region ensuring they support the community they work within, which is why it’s such a great fit for us and we have signed up for 2019 as well.

A first for us, this year we were the major sponsors of the AFL Girls (14-16 years) program, delivered by the Hunter Academy of Sport. The program aims to provide recognition and motivation to identified emerging talented athletes. It was great to see Arizona Cross be named as the Best & Fairest Athlete for 2018 at the Hunter Academy of Sport Awards Day.

Our team also love to get love to get involved with the community and we had everyone getting their hands dirty cooking up meals for Ronald McDonald House. It’s a great initiative for charity, but also an excellent team bonding experienced.

Thinking outside of the square, this year we were the only official donation point for the Salvation Army, during their Red Shield Appeal. As you would be aware, this is a door knock appeal, but because we have such a busy location, we felt like it was a great opportunity to volunteer to collect. We raised a whopping $1,600!

But of course, there must be some business to support all our charitable works and so our director, Kylie, headed off to a number of speaking engagements this year. Thank you to Lake Macquarie Women in Business, WIBAS and Cutcher & Neale for hosting these events. It was an honour for Kylie to be able to speak about her passion and business in these settings.

And, you may have noticed the website revamp we had earlier this year. We were very excited for the launch and love the new platform. We hope you’re enjoying using it as much as we do. PLUS… it was super exciting to have our second branded car out and about on the streets of Newcastle. Give us a toot next time you drive past.

Add to this being finalists in the Australian Small Business Champion Awards 2018 and Hunter Region Business Excellence Awards 2018, our year has been pretty spectacular. We may not have come away with wins, but we were impressed with the high calibre of businesses operating in the Hunter.

Of course, there was also the news that Newcastle is in the top 10 places to buy property in Australia, but we already knew this, and it is why we are so passionate about being buyer’s agents for our clients. It is also why, when Kylie was approached to feature in the video of the Queens Wharf Tower before its demolition she happily joined in, to support this quirky icon.

To round out 2018, we’ve been running a competition for new property management clients. We’ve proudly teamed up with local businesses The Grateful Boutique, The Gates Hotel and Crema Coffee Garage to offer monthly voucher giveaways, with a grand prize of a Dyson Handstick Vacuum. There’s still time to enter, so if you’re in the market for a new Property Manager contact us today.

Thank you for your continued support of our business. 2018 has been a big one and we are looking forward to more exciting events and opportunities in 2019.
